Maryland Wellness Honored with 2025 Allegany County Community Service Award

Friday, November 7, 2025

Maryland Wellness is honored to be named a 2025 Community Service Award Winner by the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce. This prestigious recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to improving mental health access, supporting community well-being, and empowering individuals and families across Maryland.

CEO Jon D’Souza, MD, MBA, (left) and COO Ken Thakkar, MHA (right), accepted the award on behalf of the Maryland Wellness team, highlighting the dedication and compassion that drive our organization.

Jon shared during the ceremony:

“Our success comes entirely from our people—the ones who show up every single day to walk beside others through some of the hardest moments of their lives. What our team does is another piece of the same mission we all share: helping people rebuild from the inside out, so they can rejoin and strengthen the communities we all call home.”

This recognition celebrates the tireless work of every Maryland Wellness team member whose efforts bring hope, healing, and connection to the communities we serve. From mental health counseling to community outreach programs, our mission is to make meaningful, lasting impacts across Allegany County and beyond.

We extend our gratitude to the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce and to all organizations and individuals dedicated to building stronger, healthier communities across Maryland.

“I do nothing but give praise to this establishment. My first time there, I was very nervous, but that quickly changed once I was greeted by the amazing staff in the front office. I can never leave that place with a frown on my face. I would recommend this facility to anybody in need of mental and drug counseling. They are the best I have ever experienced, and that is no lie.”

“When I first started, I was afraid to talk but once they started telling me about this program, I started to open up more. They taught me that I am important; it’s about me today. They have taught me to forget about the past and focus on my goals – my GED,  nursing, helping the homeless, volunteering, etc. This is the most amazing, awesome program in Baltimore, and that’s from my heart. The staff is wonderful, amazing, beautiful, unique and have hearts of gold.”
