Community

Maryland Wellness’s vision is to serve as one of Maryland’s leading mental health providers through excellent client service, community partnerships and innovation.

It is our priority that we participate in valuable community events and work with our amazing partners in order to support our community and help individuals meet their mental health and life goals.

We regularly participate in Reentry Resource Fairs, sponsored by various organizations including the State’s Attorney’s Office of Maryland, offering information to help reduce recidivism and get to the root causes of mental health distress. Additionally, we sponsor and provided mental health resources at events like the Baltimore Out of the Darkness Walk with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help achieve their bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

Maryland Wellness is also active in the community through our partnership with NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore. In 2021, our CEO Ken Thakkar was invited to join the board to help further NAMI’s life-saving mission. We are working together with key stakeholders to help change the dynamics of mental health, take action in the workplace and schools, help individuals and break down stigmas.

On Juneteenth, we supported more than a dozen Black-owned businesses and organizations that our team felt were making a meaningful impact in the communities they live and work in. We provided donations to each of those organizations to thank them for making a difference in the lives of those they serve.

Our team’s children also submitted original artwork to our first-ever Pride Art Gallery. In recognition of their support, we also made a contribution to partner Chase Brexton Health Care. Knowing that health and wellness goes well beyond the physical health of the body, and seeing first-hand the wide-reaching LGBT health disparities in our communities, Chase Brexton founded The LGBT Health Resource Center. We are proud to support them and all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

You can also find us giving away school supplies, hygiene products, food and other resources at events around the state. Sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about our events or follow us on social media. You matter to us!

Maryland Wellness feeds clients for Thanksgiving!

Last week, our team was able to feed more than 1,000 clients and/or their family members throughout the state with delicious Thanksgiving meals. Thank you to our great partners in Cumberland, including Pinnacle Strategies Inc., Maryland Food Bank, Western Branch, Hypeman, LLC and our own therapist Crystal for your donations. Congrats to our CEO Ken!

We are so proud of our CEO, Ken Thakkar, who was named one of the Baltimore Business Journal‘s 40 Under 40 winners (from nearly 300 nominations)! Ken has guided our team in helping thousands of Marylanders learn to manage their mental health disorders – all while achieving important life goals. Without Maryland Wellness’ unique and valuable resources, obstacles might’ve prevented mental health care, especially at a time when the need is so prevalent.

“I do nothing but give praise to this establishment. My first time there, I was very nervous, but that quickly changed once I was greeted by the amazing staff in the front office. I can never leave that place with a frown on my face. I would recommend this facility to anybody in need of mental and drug counseling. They are the best I have ever experienced, and that is no lie.”
