We are seeking engaging, practical, and substantive workshops appropriate for continuing education for licensed social workers and LCPCs. Standard 90-minute sessions and extended three-hour formats are available.

Clinical Practice: Trauma-informed care, IFS and other evidence-informed modalities, couples and family therapy, polyvagal theory, DBT, complex trauma, eating disorders, neurodivergence, and perinatal mental health

Populations and Systems: Forensic behavioral health and justice-involved populations, harm reduction and substance use, and anti-oppressive practice

Professional Practice: Ethics, supervision, and the evolving role of AI in behavioral health practice

These topics are only a starting point. We welcome fresh, relevant proposals that offer meaningful learning for behavioral health professionals.

Presenters receive an honorarium of $150 for a 90-minute session or $300 for a three-hour session. Co-presenters are welcome, and each presenter may submit up to two proposals.

Keynote Speaker

This past year’s keynote, The Mirror Work of Healing, presented by Carrie Freshour, invited clinicians into a brave space of reflection and renewal. By exploring nervous system fluency, identity integrity, and the often-unspoken tensions of our work, the keynote reframed regulation as more than self-care—it is sustainability, access, and our first ethical responsibility. Attendees left grounded, affirmed, and reconnected to the purpose behind their practice.

Conference Presenters

Our presenters deliver the core educational experience of SWELL. With expertise spanning clinical care, systems innovation, community wellness, and organizational leadership, they lead focused sessions that blend evidence-based practice with actionable takeaways. Their workshops are practical, dynamic, and designed to strengthen Maryland’s behavioral health workforce at every level.

“When I first started, I was afraid to talk but once they started telling me about this program, I started to open up more. They taught me that I am important; it’s about me today. They have taught me to forget about the past and focus on my goals – my GED,  nursing, helping the homeless, volunteering, etc. This is the most amazing, awesome program in Baltimore, and that’s from my heart. The staff is wonderful, amazing, beautiful, unique and have hearts of gold.”
