SWELL 2027 Call for Proposals Now Open

Friday, September 11, 2026

Maryland Wellness is excited to announce that the Call for Proposals for SWELL 2027 is now open.

SWELL 2027 will take place April 8–10, 2027, at Aloft Ocean City in Ocean City, Maryland. More than a typical conference, SWELL creates space for behavioral health professionals to learn alongside colleagues, reconnect with the work that matters, and leave feeling grounded and energized.

We are seeking engaging, practical, and substantive workshops appropriate for continuing education for licensed social workers and LCPCs. Presenters may propose standard 90-minute workshops or extended three-hour sessions.

Topics of particular interest include:

Clinical Practice: Trauma-informed care, IFS and other evidence-informed modalities, couples and family therapy, polyvagal theory, DBT, complex trauma, eating disorders, neurodivergence, and perinatal mental health

Populations and Systems: Forensic behavioral health and justice-involved populations, harm reduction and substance use, and anti-oppressive practice

Professional Practice: Ethics, supervision, and the evolving role of AI in behavioral health practice

These topics are only a starting point. We welcome fresh, relevant proposals that offer meaningful learning for behavioral health professionals.

Presenters receive an honorarium of $150 for a 90-minute session and $300 for a three-hour session. Co-presenters are welcome, and each presenter may submit up to two proposals.

Completed proposals are due October 18, 2026, and should be emailed to events@mdwellness.org.

The spirit of SWELL comes from the people who gather there and the expertise, generosity, curiosity, and perspectives they bring. We invite you to consider helping us shape SWELL 2027—or to share this opportunity with someone whose voice and expertise would strengthen the experience.

“When I first started, I was afraid to talk but once they started telling me about this program, I started to open up more. They taught me that I am important; it’s about me today. They have taught me to forget about the past and focus on my goals – my GED,  nursing, helping the homeless, volunteering, etc. This is the most amazing, awesome program in Baltimore, and that’s from my heart. The staff is wonderful, amazing, beautiful, unique and have hearts of gold.”
